About
Art Justice
The Art Justice committee began meeting in 2021 while working on a community mural highlighting the condition of essential workers during the pandemic. We were energized to continue creating together in the intersection of art and labor. We have since worked with a local union to produce a graphic poster for Dia de Los Muertos, and created a May Day poster for May Day 2023.

Dia de Los Muertos 2023
The Dia de los Muertos Poster was made in November 2022 and showcased at a community altar in Huntington Park in collaboration with UFCW 770.
The artwork depicts a drum, representing music, as agitating movement of individual droplets. These droplets represent separate communities and groups of people, and in their movement, they combine and turn into one large force represented by the fist. The artwork is a powerful symbol of the unity and inclusivity that our group stands for, and a reminder of the importance of coming together to make change.

Our May Day poster was made in collaboration with various artists across Southern California.
